Why did you choose GCU?

Grand Canyon University's close-knit community, intimate learning environment, and physical location in Phoenix drew me to the school. I especially appreciated the fact that my education would be in the context of Christian values and principles.

What state do you live in?

Texas

How has your degree prepared you for your career?

My degree from GCU equipped me with the technical skills to contribute in my field. GCU instilled in me the work ethic and commitment needed to excel in the world of finance/accounting and make the most of my opportunities. I gained not only practical knowledge at GCU, but I was also challenged to think for myself. The high quality, practical instruction gave me the tools to begin my career and make a contribution. To this day, I continue to rely on, and apply the knowledge I gained at GCU.

How does your education compare to others in the same career field?

My educational level is comparable to others in my field.

What type of additional training/education have you experienced since earning your degree?

I obtained an MBA in 2002 from Rice University in Houston, Texas.

1997

What did you enjoy most about GCU?

I appreciate the accessibility of the faculty and staff. I always felt comfortable to ask questions and seek out advice. The faculty, staff, and students encourage you and make you feel valued. I know GCU values each individual and specializes in giving each student personal attention.

How many times have you been back to GCU?

It is difficult for me to visit since I live out-of-state now, but I have visited the school since graduating to give a tour to a friend.

What personal or professional accomplishments have you experienced since graduation?

I have been able to progress in my field and been continually challenged to further develop my skills and acquire new competencies.

What is your fondest memory of GCU?

Enjoying some quality GCU baseball on a beautiful, sunny day.

What extracurricular activities did you participate in, on campus?

Most of my extracurricular activities were outside of campus.

Did you work on campus?

Yes, I worked at the business school during my final year at GCU.

Did you live on campus?

No

Have you taken any classes at GCU since graduation?

No

How have the relationships you have built at GCU (past and present) impacted you?

It is reassuring to know that you can go back to campus, call, or write faculty and staff and they will recognize you and demonstrate a genuine interest in your life and development.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

When I am asked about my background, I am truly proud to describe my educational experience at GCU. GCU played a key role in shaping my character and instilling in me the confidence to enter the business world and mature as a leader.
